Ahh, the grief of a start-up entrepreneur. You had a great idea and built your own business, but now you have no money left to advertise for your website. And with courses that estimate the average cost of creating a startup at $ 30,000, it’s no surprise that your piggybank is a little lower now.

1. Seduce Customers through Social Media

If you've been reading some of our blogs, you may have noticed that we like social media. Here's why - with free Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, and Pinterest social media accounts, you can expand your online presence, be aware of great content, and get other people to share links to your website. It's a web traffic trifecta!

Take Pinterest for example. If your startup is really photogenic or visible, you definitely want to use this public site. Download some of the most exciting features of your startup and attach them to your account. If other users are attracted to your images, they may like, rewrite them, or click on them to visit your site. The addictive features of Pinterest can keep users repeating for hours (hopefully, I know). Set the right eye candy to attract potential buyers and you will definitely increase the traffic coming to your website.

Even if you don't have a product to watch, photos of your amazing workplace and group can be great on Pinterest! Find something tangible and interesting about your company.

For example, we created a Pinterest board entirely without anchors from Wall Written, a wall-mounted company. It looks great and interesting, and several people liked or shared each of these pins within minutes and I built the board.

If your startup isn’t a very photogenic business, that’s fine too. There are many opportunities when it comes to using Pinterest and other social networking sites. Industrial-related topics are great places to turn if you find yourself struggling to find shares on Facebook and Twitter.

2. Try to reach out as a guest speaker

Surprisingly, you can still drive traffic to your website using offline methods. Another great way to do this is to reach out to local organizations and institutions and offer a talk at their events.

Personally I like the college / university approach. Universities are always looking for events that suit the interests of their students, and many state universities receive guest speakers at no cost.

As a proud owner of your startup, you are already convinced that you have something to offer in business and great advertising. Contact the local university business department and offer to give their students tips or advice on how to get started. By tirelessly appreciating your start with your website at the event you can generate a lot of traffic online, while also establishing yourself as an expert in your field.

Another way is to write a column for a local newspaper or business journal. This can make you a trusted professional in your field and lead people to look for you online.

3. Create Survey / Discussion

Think about your customer base and create a few questions that might interest them. SurveyMonkey is an easy-to-use website that allows you to do all kinds of free surveys. You can create multiple choice or open questions and share your research on Facebook. SurveyMonkey even offers a Facebook app to help you easily embed research on your Facebook page.

It says your start is involved in the land planning industry. Create a survey that asks what types of insects people find in their backyards or what types of destruction of their grass that survived in the past. People love to talk about their own life experiences and will be more inclined to interact with your website if you ask questions they want to contribute to.

You can turn these surveys into long-term pieces of content full of customer stories and anecdotes. If you want to identify your content directly, you can access and interview one person. Use your existing business relationships and personal contacts. Talking to thought leaders on your blog will help increase trust and bring people to your site. Think of all the interested people you know and the strengths they can get from interviews.

4. Hold the race

People love the chance to win something, even if that is just a topic. Photo contests are a great way to engage potential customers from these days almost everyone has a smartphone in their pocket.
